HOW DOES ROOMMATCH WORK?

Follow the step-by-step instructions
Step 1
Register on ROOM.nl

On ROOMMATCH you will find room listings in the regions of Amsterdam, Delft, The Hague, Deventer, Leiden, Haarlem, Wageningen and Groningen. With reliable providers, safe and honest!

To respond to rooms, you need to register on ROOM.nl. Are you not registered yet? Then go to ROOM.nl and register. With your registration you can respond directly to ROOMMATCH for rooms.

The longer you are registered, the greater the chance of getting a room. In the larger student cities, it is really difficult to find a room. So register with ROOM.nl on time, which is possible from the age of 16.

Step 2
Search for a room

After logging in, you will see the rooms you can respond to. In the advertisements, you will find information such as the rental price, photos and a floor plan. Have you spotted a nice room? Then click on 'Respond' at the bottom of the page.

  • You can only apply for rooms in the region where you are studying or doing an internship.
  • Sometimes there is a priority scheme for certain groups, such as first-year students or students who live further away.
  • You can apply for rooms that become available from 4 months before the start date of your study or internship.
  • You can have 5 responses open at the same time. You can only get 1 room offer at most, even if you end up in first place with several rooms.
  • Tick the box in your search profile that you want to receive notifications, and we will send you an email as soon as a room that matches with your preferences becomes available.
Step 3
Finding a room

The longer you’re registered, the higher you will be placed on the waiting list. Different rules apply to vote-in rooms, where the tenants choose a new co-tenant themselves. Sometimes the registration time also counts.

When the offering has expired, you’ll know what position you-ve ended up. If you’re ranked first, we’ll offer you the room. You can then view it.

Step 4
Accept a room

Been to a viewing and you want to move in? Don't forget to officially accept the room. The deadline for this can be found under Offered rooms, and in the e-mail we sent you.

Is the room not to your liking? No problem. Refusing the offer will not affect your registration. So you can continue your search for a room. When you’re not interested, please let us know.

Step 5
Plan your move!

After acceptance, the room is yours! The landlord will ask you to send a number of documents for verification. They let us know which documents they require.

If everything is in order, the room is definitely yours. All you have to do is sign your rental contract.

Please note: If you refuse the room in this  phase, your account will be blocked and you may incur costs.
